RGV has got a legally valid point

Ram Gopal Varma’s Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Redlu is creating ripples in political circles. TDP party leaders are lambasting RGV for mocking opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh. Though RGV has been saying that the resemblance of characters with the leaders is coincidental, there no buyers for his argument.

YSR Congress party leaders are supporting RGV for his daringness at taking dig at former CM and the caste politics. Perhaps, many people have been seeking ban on the controversial film as it could ignite clashes between castes. Senior media folks feel that making fun of three times CM is unhealthy trend that may be followed by other directors.

However, some neutral audience and ardent followers of Varma who are eager to watch the movie opine its ok. They argue that it has to be taken in lighter vein citing example of several Hollywood flicks that came earlier mocking US President and other world leaders. Legendary comedian Charlie Chaplin spoofed Hitler, the Nazi dictator. Later only invited Chaplin and honoured him for his act.

US Prez George Bush was mocked in Hot Shot series. Lincoln was mocked in An American Carol. Primary Colors had shown Bill Clinton’s infamous sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky. Recently, Bollywood came up with political spoof ‘The Accidental Primeminister’ mocking at former prime minister Manmohan Singh. So, Varma has got solid legal argument to defend his film. Whoelse but the maverick does it better!
