Popular actress and TV host Lakshmi Manchu celebrated Sankranthi festival in an unique manner. She hosted a lunch for 50 children, who hail from 38 different government schools in Hyderabad. All these schools had collaborated with the NGO ‘Teach For India’, in which Lakshmi Manchu is a key member.
Several volunteers from Teach For Change too took part in this festival which was organised at Lakshmi Manchu’s house in Filmnagar. Not many know that Lakshmi had hosted such events, to celebrate festivals, for students from government schools at Five Star Hotels in the past. But this time, she invited everyone to her home to celebrate it in a traditional way.
“I feel very happy when I spent time with such talented children. Beyond all this, I hope we can also teach our next generation to treat everyone equally, irrespective of their economic background. That is one of my main motives to organise such events and hopefully, it will also change the mindset of the people,” Lakshmi Manchu said.
Apart from Lakshmi Manchu and the kids from government schools, Teach for Change’s founder Chaitanya too was present at the event, along with 25 other volunteers from the NGO.
