Rangasthalam had a sensational run in theaters. The film became second highest grosser after Baahubali. Sukumar’s intriguing narration of retro revenge thriller has been embraced by all sections. Small time writer Gandhi filed a complaint with writer’s association that it’s his story.
Chittibabu realizes that Prakash Raj is the real villain who is behind his brother Aadi’s murder. But he serves bedridden Prakash Raj to recover from his illness and only then he takes his revenge. This plot is what Gandhi claimed to have lifted from his registered story.
Sukumar has given clarification on it. He revealed that he scripted Rangasthalam story based on Bollywood film ‘Anjaam’ where Madhuri Dixit romances and helps Shahrukh Khan to recover from illness and then kills him finally.
Anjaam was also inspired from Hollywood film and Sydney Sheldon’s novel ‘Stranger in the mirror’. Whatsoever Rangasthalam raked moolah at box-office, now the makers have nothing to lose now.
