The Paradise Papers is sending tremors across the world. It is creating stir among corrupt politicians and corporate giants. One and a half year ago we have seen Panama Papers leakage where several bigwigs names were listed as black money holders in international banks.
Paradise Papers is the latest investigation into banking assets of individuals and companies in 180 countries. No wonder India ranks 19th in the list with more number of names listed. As many as 714 Indians are said to be in the list.
Interestingly, just 2 days back Government observed ‘Anti-Black Money Day’ marking the first anniversary of Demonetization.
A popular national daily released the report after investigation for over 10 months along with foreign agencies. It’ll be revealing 40 investigative reports starting tonight.
Several prominent corporates and companies which subsequently came under the scrutiny of investigating agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI.
Indian corporate companies like GMR Group, Jindal Steel, Apollo Tyres, Havells, Hindujas, Emaar MGF, Videocon, the Hiranandani Group, Sun-TV, Aircel-Maxis, Essar-Loop 2G and D S Construction are listed. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Sachin Pilot, Karti Chidambaram and AP opposition leader and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy are named among the politicians.
