Google's doodle on Dadasaheb Phalke


Google’s doodle today is in remembrance of legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary. He is known as Father of Indian Cinema.
Dadasaheb directed and produced nearly 100 movies starting with Raja Harishchandra(1912) which is India’s first feature film. Dadasaheb Govind Phalke was born on 20 April 1870 in Trymbakeshwar in Maharashtra.  He studied at JJ School of Art in Mumbai in 1885. He worked as assistant to great painter Raja Ravi Varma. He later started his own printing press.
In 1969, the government of India honoured the legendary filmmaker by instituting the Dadasaheb Phalke award which is highest official recognition for film personalities in India.
Legendary actor Akkineni Nageswar Rao, Late producer D Ramanaidu are recipients of this prestigious award.
