Tamil Nadu is mourning passing away of former CM and DMK chief Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Film and political celebs have been expressing condolences and paying tributes. What most don’t know is that Karunanidhi had his roots in Telugu state.
He was born in Tanjavur on Jun 3rd, 1924 to Muthuvel and Anjugam couple. Karunanidhi’s ancestors belong to Prakasam district. That is how Karunanidhi has got a Telugu connection. Besides being a revolutionist reformer, Karunanidhi was a great Tamil poet and writer. He has penned scripts and dialogues for several classic Tamil films.
He also has written script for a Telugu film. He had given screenplay to Superstar Krishna starrer ‘Ammayiki Mogudu – Mamaku Athidi’ that released in 1980 and Bandivadi Koduku in 1978. Karunanidhi shared good bonding with NTR.
Both the leaders fought hand in hand against Congress party. In 1987, Karunanidhi and NTR played crucial role in grand alliance as National Front against congress. A huge public meeting was held at Marina Beach in Chennai and NTR was elected as convener of National Front.
