Disappointed by the announcement of Nandi awards, cine dignitaries took to social media to show their anguish. Recently Bunny Vasu, Ram Gopal Varma and Bandla Ganesh showed their anguish on the committee. Now, ‘Rudramadevi’ director Gunasekhar had written an open letter to CM Chandra Babu Naidu and posted it on his social media platform. RGV said that the Nandi award committee should get Oscar award for their brilliant selection standards. He further said that Boyapati Sreenu who got Nandi for ‘Legend’ is greater than James Cameron, the director of Titanic.
Earlier, in his letter to CM, Gunasekhar faulted the jury for not giving Nandi to Rudhramadevi. “Is it wrong on my part to seeking for exemption of entertainment tax for ‘Rudramadevi’? When another historical movie ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ was exempted, why can’t my movie get exempted? Is it a question that has no answer? Is it my fault to make a movie glorifyin gTelugu race and doing a women centric movie?,” questioned he.
On Tuesday, the state government announced the Nandi Film Awards for 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Blockbuster film Baahubali, which released in 2015, bagged 13 Nandi awards in different categories, while Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film Legend got eight awards. Balakrishna is one of the jury members. None other than Balakrishna gets the credit of being a jury member awarded himself best actor award for his movie, alleged filmmakers.
