Padmaavat collections have been phenomenal at box-office. The historic film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali collected 19 crore nett on opening day as it released on non-holiday i.e. Jan 25th. It earned nearly 5 crores from Wednesday premiers. However, it is much less compared to Baahubali 2 which collected 125 crore nett in all languages with Hindi version alone collecting 41 crore. Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai collected 34 crore on day 1.
Padmaavat has been facing many hurdles. It didn’t have smooth release in several north states. Rajasthan and Haryana continue to block the film despite Supreme Court’s verdict to lift the ban. This has marred the box-office prospects of Padmaavat. Friday has been fruitful to Padmaavat as the film collects 32 crore, thanks to Republic Day.
