Srinivasa Kalyanam Review:
Srinivasa Kalyanam is yet another movie made highlighting the significance of traditional values and marriage rituals in our culture. Since titles, the film exudes Telugu culture and flavor as glimpses from classic movie scenes portraying Srirama and Sri Venkateswara Kalyanam are shown.
Sriniavas Kalyanam points out at lack of warmth and touch in new age hifi marriages compared to traditional marriages. The main objective of the film is to demonstrate that real happiness and well being lies in family bonding and cultural values rather than accomplishing materialistic success. The director has been successful in vindicating the point.
First half focuses on establishing the theme of the film with characters intro. However, it is padded with youthful moments of romance between lead pair and comedy with buddies. Conflict point between the families is well established convincingly with an interesting interval bang. Second half starts with engagement scene. Some scenes like confrontation between Nithiin and Prakash Raaj and parents explaining how a relation between Wife and husband should be have been etched out well. The film becomes weary as it gets superfluous and over preachy towards the end.
Performances:
Nithiin nails it with his brilliant performance balancing between the youthful attitude in romantic scenes in the first half and at the same time is at his best in emotional scenes as torchbearer of his family values.
Raashi Khanna is surprisingly apt as traditional Telugu girl. She delivers a heartwarming performance. The film will one more feather in her cap. The entire cast helps to the film’s ambience. Jaya Sudha and Rajendra Prasad pairing is eye cynosure. Prakash Raj ofcourse lives in the role of a materialistic father.
Technically:
Srinivasa Kalyanam is rich with Dil Raju production values. Director Satish Vegesna is successful in presenting his vision and thought of justifying healthy family relations alone can relieve us from the stressful lifestyle in today’s materialistic world. Besides being message oriented and sentimental, the film is made feel good with pleasant visuals and songs. Well written heart touching dialogues move us emotionally.
Bottom-line: Srinivasa Kalyanam – Family values over material possessions.
