Vijayakanth, renowned for his roles in the film industry and as the chief of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) political party, breathed his last at a Chennai hospital today. At the age of 71, he had been battling Covid-19 complications and was undergoing treatment while relying on ventilatory support.
The hospital’s official statement revealed that Vijayakanth’s health deteriorated due to pneumonia, necessitating his reliance on ventilatory assistance. Despite the unwavering efforts of the medical personnel attending to him, he passed away this morning on December 28th, 2023.
