Another big loss to the Telugu film industry. Legendary director Kasinadhuni Viswanath (92) popularly known as K Vishwanath passed away around midnight on Thursday in Hyderabad. He is survived by his wife and three children.
Ailing for some time, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital for treatment but breathed his last a little around midnight. The director’s mortal remains were shifted to his residence in Jubilee Hills. His family members rushed him to Apollo Hospital after there was a sharp drop in his pulse.
Born on February 19, 1930, in Repalle, Vishwanath directed over 50 films in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil languages. Some of his well-known films are Swayamkrushi, Shankarabharanam, Swathi Muthyam, and Siri Siri Muvva.
Apart from direction, K Viswanath garu is also a reputed actor. He acted in movies like ”Swarabhishekam” (which he directed as well), ”Pandurangadu”, ”Narasimha Naidu”, ”Lakshmi Narasimha” and ”Seemasimham”, ”Kuruthipunal”, “Vajram”, “Santosham”, ”Kakkai Siraginilae” and ”Bagavathi”, among others.
A prominent name not just in Telugu cinema but also in Tamil and Hindi films, K Vishwanath became the 48th recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema. He was conferred with the award for the year 2016.
