Lingoccha Movie Review

Starring: Karthik Rathnam, Supyardee Singh, Balveer Singh, Kunal Kaushik, Thaguboth Ramesh, Uttej
Director: Anand Bada
Producer: Yadagiri Raju
Music Director: Because Raj

Story:

Set in the Old City of Hyderabad, “Lingoccha” revolves around the love story of Shiva (Karthik Rathnam) and Noorjahan (Supyardee Singh), who have cherished their love for each other since childhood. However, Noorjahan abruptly leaves for Dubai, leaving Shiva waiting for her. After several years, she returns to India, and the couple rekindles their romance. However, their love faces opposition from Noorjahan’s brother, Anwar (Kunal Kaushik). The film explores the challenges and obstacles the couple encounters in their quest for love.

Plus Points:

Karthik Rathnam delivers a compelling performance as Shiva, showcasing his talent and authenticity as an actor. His emotional outburst in the climax is particularly praiseworthy.

Supyardee Singh impresses as the female lead, embodying her character with spot-on expressions and body language. Her chemistry with Karthik Rathnam adds depth to their on-screen relationship.

Minus Points:

The film’s biggest drawback is its reliance on a clichéd and age-old storyline. The love story between characters from different religions and parental opposition is a well-worn trope in Indian cinema. The narrative lacks excitement and is filled with dull moments.

The first half of the film is passable, but the second half becomes tedious. The conflict between the hero and heroine is not effectively established, which weakens the desired impact. The hero’s character undergoes a significant transformation in the latter half, but the execution feels rushed and could have been improved.

The pacing of the film slows down as it progresses, and the editing could have been more effective. The intended comedy fails to land in many scenes, and the character of the heroine’s brother is poorly designed.

Technical Aspects:

Music director Because Raj provides a decent soundtrack for “Lingoccha.” The visuals capture the essence of the Old City effectively. However, the film’s editing could have been more polished, and the production values are acceptable.

Verdict:

On the whole, “Lingoccha” is a disappointing romantic drama with a tired and predictable storyline. While the lead actors, Karthik Rathnam and Supyardee Singh, deliver commendable performances, the film’s screenplay lacks engagement. While the first half offers a few enjoyable moments, the lackluster second half makes “Lingoccha” a tiresome watch.
