The long-awaited moment has finally arrived, and it brings forth a joyous and historic occasion for the Indian music industry. The verdict is out, and it is with great pride and elation that we announce that “Naatu Naatu” has emerged victorious at the esteemed Oscars 2023! This momentous feat marks the first-ever win for a song from any Indian film in the highly coveted Best Song category.
The iconic track from SS Rajamouli’s RRR had to compete against other impressive nominees in the category, including “Applause (Tell It Like a Woman)”, “Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick)”, “Lift Me Up (Black Panther Wakanda Forever)”, and “This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once)”. However, it was “Naatu Naatu” that emerged victorious, making history and bringing immense pride to the Indian film industry.
We’re blessed that #RRRMovie is the first feature film to bring INDIA’s first ever #Oscar in the Best Song Category with #NaatuNaatu! 💪🏻
No words can describe this surreal moment. 🙏🏻
Dedicating this to all our amazing fans across the world. THANK YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️

The brilliant music director MM Keeravaani accepted the award with a gracious Namaste, honouring the momentous achievement. This accomplishment cements the film’s position as the first-ever Indian production to win this highly prestigious award, following in the footsteps of “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire, which claimed the same accolade in 2009 in the same category.
The accolades for RRR continue to pour in, with several US awards, a place on the BAFTA 2023 longlist in the Film Not in the English Language category, and a Golden Globes win in the Best Original Song category. Additionally, the film triumphed at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards, winning both the Best Song and Best Foreign Language Film categories, among others. Such incredible recognition on a global platform is a testament to the brilliance of Indian cinema, and we couldn’t be more proud.
