Tamil Superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s Varasudu, the dubbed version of the Tamil movie Varisu finally got released today though the Tamil version was released on 11th January. The movie has huge competition from Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy.  Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, and produced by Dil Raju, the movie has set decent expectations. Let’s see if Vijay can match the expectations or not.

Story:

Rajendra (Sarathkumar) is a well-known businessman who wants to hand over his group of companies to one of his sons, Shaam and Srikanth. Apart from these two, Rajendra also has a third son Vijay Rajendra (Vijay) with whom he shares a strained relationship. Due to this reason, Vijay stays away from the family. When Rajendra is about to decide on his heir, the whole family breaks into parts. When things go haywire, Vijay takes the responsibility of holding the family together. What did he do and can be able to resolve the family issues or not is the rest of the story?

Plus Points:

  • Vijay
  • Rashmika Mandanna

Minus Points:

  • Too much Tamil flavor
  • Routine plot
  • Half-baked story
  • Over-the-top scenes

Verdict:

On the whole, Vaarasudu is a passable family drama that has its moments. Despite the slow pace, lack of emotional connection, and a few artificial scenes, Varasudu is still a feel-good family entertainer that appeals to the family audience.
